Doc Pete was the last Clinical Fellow trained at the famous Masters and Johnson Institute (of St. Louis), which served as the historical basis for the SHOWTIME television series, Masters of Sex.

His current practice focuses on court evaluations (especially for sex crime cases) as well as clinical assessment and treatment of sexually compulsive behavior (aka sex addiction), sexual dysfunction, and trauma resolution therapy.

He enjoys world and blues music as well as working for diversity, inclusion, and democracy in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

Doc Pete has coauthored/coedited four books, including The Gender Revolution & New Sexual Health (2020) and Sex & Gender: Current Clinical Concepts and Practices (2022). He was Associate Editor for Innovations in Clinical Practice: Focus on Sexual Health (2007) and coauthor of Joyful, Healthy Sex: Fundamental Education (2010).

He is also coteaching a course on White Privilege and Intersectionality (with Dr. Judith Skillings) at the Department of Psychology, College of Science & Mathematics, Wright State University.

Dr. Peterson is an educator related to the topics of human sexuality, White privilege, and cultural diversity. He teaches courses as an individual instructor as well as co-teaches with his colleague Dr. Judith Skillings.
